To continue the Legacy of Berta Lull and to ensure that her memory never fades away, the NLLD Board hereby creates the Berta Lull NLLD Scholarship. The Scholarship is intended to benefit students who are the children, grandchildren or great grandchildren of members of the NLLD. The Scholarship, with Board Approval, will be given each year to an outstanding student who has been accepted and enrolled in, or is already attending, a technical school, trade school, community college or a four year college or university. The amount of the Scholarship will be decided on an annual basis by the NLLD, Board of Directors. The recipient will be, among other requirements, a student who has a record of academic success as well as qualities of leadership and community service.
The original amount of the scholarship will be $1,000 to $2,000
with any changes being decided by the selection committee from year to year.
1-Student accepted and registered at, or already attending, a technical school, trade school, community college or four year college or university.
2-Must have a minimum GPA of 3.0 based on a 4.0 GPA system.
3-Must have danced as a Junior in the Dance Genre of their choice.
The Legends Board will provide an application upon request
requiring the following information to be submitted on the form
provided:
A. Transcript showing a minimum grade point average of 3.0 on a 4.0 grade point system for the last year in high school, or the current enrolled semester.
B. An official letter of acceptance or proof of registration or attendance at an accredited technical school, trade school, community college or four year university.
C. Two letters of recommendation from community leaders such as teachers, ministers, coaches, business owners, etc.
D. An original Essay (minimum of 3 pages double spaced with one inch margins) showing how the dance has influenced their personal and community achievements, academic goals, career objectives and ambitions in life.
Applications must be postmarked by the deadline listed on the application in order to be considered.
The Scholarship selection committee will review the applications from the qualified candidates annually and determine who in their opinion best meets the required qualifications.
The recipient (or recipients) will be notified prior to the annual NLLD party in November and the scholarship will be awarded at the event.
The scholarship check will be issued to the trade school, technical school, community college or four year college or university in which the winner is enrolled.
The decisions of the selection committee are final and all of the information submitted by the applicants is private and confidential with the exception that the winning applicant’s essay may be read when the award is presented.
The number of scholarships awarded each year will be determined by the selection committee of the NLLD.
Any student not selected may re-apply the following year or in successive years.
NLLDstars supports other charitable organizations. Charitable organizations are selected each year by the Board of Directors.

NLLD was created and founded by Berta Lull and Fran Bingley in 1994. The National Living Legends of Dance held its first ever event that same year.
